Short Description:

Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Company, one of America's leading publishers of fiction and nonfiction, is currently looking for freelance indexers to join our trade division.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Company Trade Division is looking for experienced trade book indexers to expand our freelance pool. Indexers with experience in history, current events, science, sports a plus.

Required Experience:

Trade book experience required. Must have excellent language skills and the editorial judgment to create well-structured, consistent indexes that are accurate and reader appropriate. Must work comfortably within parameters of line length and character count. Must be able to meet deadlines.

Salary/Hours:

Please note that this is not an in-house position; work is on a freelance, off-site basis only. Assignments are not guaranteed.
