Freelance InDesign Composition

Short Description:

Maple Street Press is looking for professional freelancers for off-site page composition work using Adobe InDesign

Duties and Responsibilities:

Use of InDesign to compose 128 page season preview sports magazine including setting title blocks, flowing & styling text, linking and placing photos, tables and line art. Templates, samples, and extensive specifications are provided: requires designers eye, but main function is typesetting. All articles are set at specific page lengths and files provided to publisher who compiles into a book file for printer. Articles are batched as received from editors with a big push before press date. Tight turns under tight deadlines; availability for last minute work before press time expected. Successful candidates will be solicited for addition work as different sports begin their season: includes football, hockey, basketball, and baseball.

Required Experience:

Expert knowledge of InDesign and basic standards of composition work required. Minimum InDesign CS3; publisher works in CS4. Adobe Acrobat required. High-speed Internet and FTP site access for download and upload required. Ability to access MS Word .doc and Excel .xls documents required.

Prefer professionals from the Boston metro area. Knowledge of sports terminology a plus.

Salary/Hours:

Position is off-site freelance. All work is considered work made for hire. Compensation is generally $5 per page with corrections at an hourly rate.
